We have been notified that you are experiencing some water leakage in the area of the fireplace. We have written this letter so that you can assist us in identifying the cause and possible solutions to your situation.

Your professionally installed fireplace system complies with the rigorous specifications of BOCA, UL and the manufacturer. The fireplace and chimney have been installed by our certified installers and has been inspected and approved by the local building department. The fireplace system can generally be eliminated as a possible cause.

SO WHAT IS CAUSING THE LEAK?

In order to make a proper determination, we will need your assistance. First of all, LOOK UP! Has your termination cap become dislodged? Has the roof flashing sustained evident weather or construction damage. Is it visibly bent or dented?

IF YOU ANSWERED NO, TO ALL OF THE ABOVE, READ ON!

If you notice small amounts of water inside the fireplace, or you hear a dripping sound on the damper then you are experiencing wind driven rain an environmental condition. This is normal and should stop after the fireplace is used a few times.

If water is noticed as wet spots at the corner of the wall and ceiling near the fireplace, or water runs across the face of the fireplace or on the finish material, Then you are experiencing a common roof leak not related to the fireplace system. Typically this leak occurs between the roof and the chase, or around the siding material on the chase. Contact the builder to have the roofing siding or masonry contractors check their work.

If you notice small amounts of water on the floor near the unit, or on the top of the fireplace, Then you are experiencing the rare occurrence of water leakage around the chimney pipe at the storm collar. When properly installed, our storm collar and our seamless one piece galvanized flashing will provide a durable or watertight seal. Contact Williams Panel Brick Customer Care Group to arrange for a coordinated effort with your builder to determine warranty obligation.
